Cleopatra Hospital Performs First Combined Mitral and TriClip Procedures in Egypt and Africa

Cleopatra Hospital has announced the successful performance of two advanced structural heart interventions, marking a significant milestone in cardiovascular care in Egypt and across Africa.

The procedures included the first combined Mitral Clip and TriClip intervention performed in the region, as well as a standalone TriClip procedure. Both cases address complex heart conditions using minimally invasive, catheter-based techniques, offering new treatment options for patients who are not suitable candidates for conventional open-heart surgery.

Mitral and tricuspid valve regurgitation are among the more challenging cardiac conditions to manage, particularly in high-risk patients. The use of transcatheter repair techniques allows physicians to reduce procedural risk while improving recovery times and overall clinical outcomes.

Both interventions were conducted at the Cardiovascular Center of Excellence at Cleopatra Hospital, which is equipped with advanced cardiac catheterization laboratories, high-resolution imaging systems, and precision-guided interventional tools. The procedures were carried out by a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists and specialists working in a coordinated clinical setting.

The milestone was further supported by collaboration with international experts, contributing to knowledge transfer and ensuring alignment with global standards in structural heart interventions.

As part of Cleopatra Hospitals Group, Cleopatra Hospital continues to expand its capabilities in specialized cardiac care through ongoing investment in technology, infrastructure, and medical expertise. This achievement reflects a broader effort to introduce advanced treatment options and improve access to high-quality care for patients across the region.
